Hey everybody!
Next week our friends from Flagstaff, Blackfire (remember Klee Bennally who spoke at the
capitol on C-Day?-this is his siblings' and his band) will come throught Denver long
enough for us to put on a great awareness concert (we will give proceeds to the Save the
Peaks Coalition).
It is up to us to support this important and pressing issue of Indigenous religious freedom
and cultural sovereignty. So everyone please come out to the show, and bring friends,
family, and anyone who you'd like. This means-send out emails, call people, print out
this rad flyer (attached) and distribute-I need all the help I can get, so if you have time to
help, I can also use volunteers!
We will have a blast and be a part of a growing movement to end the desecration of the
San Francisco Peaks. Here's some info about the event-see you there!
WHAT: Save the Peaks Awareness Concert/Film Screening.
We will watch the "Snowbowl Effect" (56 mins), the documentary directed by Klee Bennally
that shows the struggle in AZ between Indian tribes, environmental groups & individuals,
against the Forest Service to stop contaminated wastewater from being used to make snow
for skiing on the mountains sacred to 13 Indian tribes. Klee, Geneda, and Clayson Bennally
will be there for questions after, as they grew up fighting many despicable government
actions and especially the Snowbowl. After the film, we will hear from two bands: Half
BLind, a "junk" (jazz+punk) rock band with political/philosophical leanings from Boulder;
and Blackfire, a Native fire ball punk band, who we've seen in past years at Indigenous
Reistance concerts here, and are gaining play internationally.
WHEN: November 10th, 2005, 8:30 pm
WHERE: St Francis Conference Center, Auraria Campus
900 Auraria Pkwy, Denver, CO 80204

Closest Parking Lots N,M (not free)
There is a suggested $5 donation (more is fine, too!). Since this is an awareness concert,
we'd love to be able to give the Save the Peaks Coalition as much as we can, but we also
want you to have fun and learn about this pressing case, so I won't be turning anyone
away.
