Wednesday, 26 October 2005

ORLANDO, FL, (NAMC) - PROactive Media, Inc., a media management corporation in Florida, and American Indian Artists, Inc., a Native arts services organization in New York State, entered into an agreement with the purpose of developing new markets for a feature film entitled, "The Reawakening."

The management agreement gives PROactive Media rights to market the dramatic film, written and directed by Diane Fraher. PROactive Media will develop licensing opportunities with the international media in Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

"It is important to our company to serve the indigenous tribal communities of the world, and we see a great opportunity for tribal unity as the world tribes to learn about each other through the media," states PROactive Media President, Tony Coolidge, who is an advocate of indigenous peoples. "The Reawakening is a powerful and well-produced dramatic film illustrating the power of love and personal redemption, told in a setting of Native American tradition and culture."

"The Reawakening gives audiences world-wide a rare genuine look inside contemporary American Indian culture," American Indian Artists Director Diane Fraher, "The film was produced on a Native American community-based independent film model and we feel PROactive Media is the ideal distributor to deliver the film to international markets with their unique awareness of the untapped audience for indigenous art films."

Tony Coolidge concludes, "There is a growing market for indigenous-themed productions as people expand their cultural awareness. We want to expand the ability of indigenous-themed producers to reach a global market and have the success they need to keep producing work that makes a difference in the world. It is a great opportunity to be able to add a quality feature film in a market that is typically flooded with documentaries."

American Indian Artists, Inc. based in New York City, was established in 1987 and is the only Native arts services organization in New York State. Their organization was started as a group of Native artists' direct response to the missing or negative images of Native Americans in the mainstream media. A print ad of the same published in People Magazine reached a readership of 1,500,000 people. In 1997 American Indian Artists began providing services to the Native arts community. In the eight years since American Indian Artists began providing services, over one hundred Native artists in a variety of disciplines have successfully produced their art projects.
