I felt I must make a statement on my behalf in attending a U.C.E. meeting. I addressed that body of people not because of who their group is, but as human beings. Our children and their children attend school together, whose ancestors are buried side by side.
Although U.C.E. is labeled an anti Indian group, they are our neighbors. It is the neighboring communities residents that Halbritter Inc. hires and relies on to do his violation of human and civil rights of the Oneida people.
It is these individuals who's Federal Officials continue to support and recognize Halbritter. To those who wish to condemn me for this are clearly mislead and twisting the truth. Attention should brought to the seriousness of the matter at hand.
We are under siege, our human and civil, religious rights are being violated by a man who is empowered by the United States Federal Government. We as Haudenosaunee do not vote and have no effect on elected officials.
I felt it absolutely necessary to address this body of people for a clear understanding of what their officials are supporting.

note:
There is a powerful propaganda machine at work against the Oneida Haudenosaunee - Halbritter! He will use every effort available to confuse and discredit the Shenandoahs. His ultimate goal is power and money; a dictator who has no intention of honoring his ancestors and the next seven generations or following the Red Road. While we are standing for the rights of the Oneida Haudenosaunee everyone should also pray to the creator to help Halbritter change his path and find his way to the Good Red Road.

Dear Mr. Haibritter:
A letter dated November 23, 1999 (see enclosed) was recently brought to my
attention in which you and your "men's council" stated, "Joanne Shenandoah,
Doug George and Maisie Shenandoah helped found and continue to be actively
involved with UCE." This is absolutely wrong and fits into the category of
the fictional trash that you and your propaganda machine continue to spread
over your neighbors.
It has also been brought to my attention that you and your newspaper titled "Indian Country Today" have claimed that Diane Shenandoah and other Oneida tribal members helped found the UCE. If this is true, this is also absolutely wrong, and you know it. A number of Oneida tribal members, both loyal and non-loyal to you, have attended UCE meetings. None helped to found the UCE. Contrary to what you would like others to believe, one need not be a member of UCE to be critical of and oppose your lawless greed and corruption.
Sincerely,
Scott E Peterman, President
