HELP THE LAKOTA PEOPLE STOCK UP WOOD FOR THE WINTER
THE GOAL IS 200 CORDS OF WOOD ON BOTH RESERVATIONS BY 10/1/07
THE WOOD PROGRAMS PROVIDE FUEL FOR THE WINTER AND EMPLOYMENT TO LAKOTA MEN AND WOMEN WHO SUPPORT FAMILIES
We are supporting wood programs on Pine Ridge and Cheyenne River Reservations. The Lakota people will be cutting and bringing to the reservation 400 cords of cottonwood, elm and ash wood that have been donated. The cost of the manpower and tools to acquire the wood and get it to the reservation will be $20,000 or $50 per cord. The wood will be distributed free next winter to elders and families. At the current cost of wood on the reservation the cost of 400 cords would be $80,000. By working with the Lakota people to take advantage of this opportunity we are assuring heat for next winter at a fraction of the market cost.
To that end – we need to raise $20,000. You can help provide warmth and needed employment with your donation today! Sponsor a cord of wood for $50 or 1/2 cord for $25.
$200 WILL KEEP A FAMILY WARM FOR AT LEAST 2 MONTHS. ($200 worth of propane lasts about 2 weeks.)
Help ONE Spirit meet the goal of $20,000 by October 1, 2007. Your donation is TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
The snow flies early on the plains of South Dakota. We want to be sure we have plenty of wood cut, stocked and piled, and ready for delivery. Can you imagine having to choose between feeding your children or keeping them warm? Help us make sure that no one has to make such a choice on Pine Ridge or Cheyenne River Reservations this winter!!
