Youth Initiative

(NNAYI)

June 17th - 25th, 2006

The Association of American Indian Physicians is now accepting applications for the 9th annual National Native American Youth Initiative program to be held June 17th-25th 2006 in Washington D.C. Application deadline is April 20, 2006.

Native American high school students interested in health careers encouraged to apply. Over 60 students will be awarded scholarships to attend this academic enrichment program.

Native American college students in health programs and health professionals encouraged to apply to serve as counselors. All expenses paid and stipend awarded to twelve counselors.

STUDENT INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY

Native American high school students age 16 – 18 that are planning to enter a health profession are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA (A = 4.0).

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship pays for lodging, meals, and travel expenses for the weeklong program.

APPLICATION

• One-Page Personal Statement (double spaced): Describe yourself, your family, and your future educational and career plans. Include how NNAYI will help you to accomplish your goals, as well as any other relevant information.

• Most Recent Academic Transcript – Official transcript recommended.

• Letter of Recommendation from school counselor/instructor – Submit in a sealed envelope.
