A Note from the Editor

A note for All Readers

Dear Readers

For most of the month of May, I have not been able to publish as many reports as I would like or to share the wonderful teaching stories of Night Eagle or the stories of one man's strong love for the land, by Shyhawk FM and so many more.

There are some very important events taking place - the fight by the people to save Bear Butte, a Sacred place for hundreds of years for Plains Tribes and many other nations who go there to pray and do ceremony. No, the town of Sturgis much rather work with a rich developer who has more plans - a bigger biker bar, promising more drinking and noise and all the rest of negativity that type of business will bring.

In Canada we have the 6Nations people fighting to retain land that is there; once again against a rich developer who wants to build fancy homes on land that is not his, and still native people have to stand up and protect their own land.

The Dineh and the Hopi will soon be forced from their ancestral lands too and the Shoshone have not give up the fight to regain the land stolen from them, or to stop the us government from setting off nuclear explosions in an area where such horrible things have war have already hurt people, the land, and the animals.

Please help with these issues and so many more, in whatever way that you can. As you watch, before our very eyes, we are the witnesses to the continuation of the push to wipe out the Indian. Do we want to do nothing? Again?

So, I am sorry I have not been able to get up the latest on all of these issues in a timely manner and as often as I have kept up with issues in the past. I did start a blog temporarily and have some news posted there, since it's much easier to copy and paste than it is to put up a webpage, I thought at least I can get some news up and later on, move it back to this website so that in the future, should anyone doing any research, etc., need information, it will be here for them to use it.

I have been very ill this month and thus unable to do as much as I always do. I have a very serious infection called cellulitis. I have lymphedema, a disease without a cure, which many women seem to get after having cancer surgery of some kind. Men, children, newborns, can have lymphedema too. It's an illness that needs so much more research and it needs to be taught to nurses and doctors, what to look for, and to have more trained people who can treat it.

I was in the hospital for several days and even though they let me come home, I am suppose to be treating it in several ways - one which means confinement to bed for long periods of time, which drives me crazy!! "grins" I'd much rather be doing this or so many other things in life. So, I'm not sure when I'll be back to full steam ahead, but I will try my best to keep you updated.

Thank you for your patience and support.
Jeanne
