INDIAN ISLAND, Maine (AP) - The program, called PIN R-X, was slated to begin on a limited basis by late summer. But attorney Mark Chavaree, the president of the PIN R-X board, says the new target is mid-October. The mail order pharmacy is located in a renovated warehouse on Indian Island, where the computer equipment and software are already up and running. The program is expected to provide discount prices on 90-day supplies of so-called "maintenance" drugs that are used on a regular basis for conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes. About 14 people will be hired at the start, but Chavaree has said the long-term goal is to increase the work force to more than 40 and to expand the business to serve other states.
