'Yes on Question 1' Receives Statewide Endorsements

October 23, 2007 (Portland, Maine) - The 'Yes on Question 1' Coalition today disclosed that hundreds of organizations, businesses, associations and individuals from across Maine support jobs and economic growth. Groups like the City of Calais, the Maine Horseman's Association, the Associated Constructors of Maine, Sunrise County Economic Council and the Portland Press-Hearld have officially endorsed "Yes on Question 1."

"The diversity of support for the 'Yes on 1' campaign shows how important this is – not just to the Passamaquoddy tribe – but to all Mainers," said "Yes on 1" Treasurer Donald Soctomah. "By passing Question 1, we have a chance to bring additional revenue into the state and bring jobs to an area that desperately needs them. The support of these organizations is critical in helping us get this message out to the voters in Maine."

Over 600 hundred individuals have signed up in support of this statewide issue via Yes for 1 and various events throughout Maine.

Yes on Question 1 is a state-wide coalition of citizens, elected officials, businesses and organizations who support The Passamaquoddy Tribe's quest for economic self-reliance through a harness racing track with limited slot machines in Washington County. In addition to helping the Tribe, a harness racing track will also provide much needed revenue and thousands of jobs to Washington County.
