Looking for a way to get involved in Earth Month?

Honor the Earth is seeking a temporary volunteer coordinator to assist us with our Earth Month partnership with Aveda Corporation and our “Protect Endangered Peoples, Protect Endangered Species” campaign. This position is intended to help increase local community participation at Aveda Earth Month events in the eight-state region in which we are working (Alaska, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska) to raise awareness around endangered species issues. The Volunteer Coordinator will be a contractor of Honor the Earth/Tides Center and will receive a stipend upon the completion of the contract period.

He/she is not eligible for any benefits. He/she will work in coordination with Honor the Earth staff and report directly to the Associate Director.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Review the list events from Aveda to determine volunteer placement need

2. Contact Honor the Earth grantees and volunteers to identify and confirm who will be attending what event and in what capacity

3. Create and maintain an itinerary for the events including contact information for the salon, volunteers and other pertinent parties

4. Confirm volunteers with Aveda salons

5. Help arrange travel logistics, if needed, for volunteers

6. Follow up with reminder calls/emails to volunteers just prior to their event

7. Issue a final report for Honor the Earth detailing the types of events and volunteer participation

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Time Commitment: March 6 through May 12; we estimate that it will require a maximum of 120 hours – approximately 5 hours/week in March and May and some additional time for Earth Month events in April.

Compensation: $10/hour
