The names you see here are those of many men and women who work tirelessly on behalf of all Native American Indians and First Nations' peoples.

They work tirelessly on the behalf of all people. Fighting injustices, dedicated to their work - people who put in countless hours with no thought of repayment or gain.

MY TWO BEADS WORTH is PROUD and HONORED to present to you, so many, whose names you may not hear or recognize, but who do so much good for the "People."

In the words of Leonard Peltier, the people listed here are "An Army of One."

The names listed here are not in any particular "order." MY TWO BEADS WORTH wishes to list them here in recognition of the good work they do and whose efforts benefit so many.

LEONARD PELTIER Leonard Peltier is a man who is known world-wide as a political prisoner, unjustly imprisoned since 1977 for a crime he did not commit.

He was born on September 12, 1944 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Leonard Peltier is a carpenter, welder, and American Indian Movement (AIM) leader whose imprisonment since 1977 is considered a human-rights violation by such organizations as Amnesty International. In 1975, during the FBI surveillance that followed the 1973 AIM occupation of Wounded Knee, two federal agents were shot dead at South Dakota's Pine Ridge reservation. Peltier was convicted of their murders and sentenced to two terms of life imprisonment, despite the prosecution's misconduct and admission of false evidence, and the fact that no witnesses linked Peltier to the crime. His incarceration continues to draw international attention. Peltier, a member of the Anishinabe (Ojibwa) and Lakota nations, writes, paints, and organizes from behind bars.

CHIEF ARVOL LOOKING HORSE Chief Arvol Looking Horse was only 12 years old when he was given the great responsibility of becoming the 19th generation keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe. Since then he has dedicated his life to working for peace, freedom and healing not only for his own People (the Lakota, Nakota and Dakota) but for all people through sharing Native Prophecies. In 1993, Chief Looking Horse traveled to New York with Elders of many Nations for the United Nations "Cry of the Earth" Conference where he presented the opening prayer. When the prophesized White Buffalo was born in Wisconsin in 1994, Chief Looking Horse took on the committment to organize World Peace Day on June 21st, a day of uniting all Nations upon Grandmother Earth to pray for her healing, to respect all life and to vow to make all decisions with respect for 7 generations yet to come. He has traveled all around the world sharing a message of peace for all nations, meeting with other spiritual leaders dedicated to this vision, like the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. In 1996 he received the prestigous Canadian Wolf Award which is given to a person who has dedicated his life to working for peace and that same year was invited to President Clinton's inaguaration to speak about peace and unity. He has been on the Board of the World Peace Prayer Society since the early 1990s, helping to fulfill their mission of planting Peace Poles that share the universal prayer, 'May Peace Prevail On Earth' in nearly every language on the planet. In 2006 Chief Looking Horse received the Temple of Understanding's Juliet Hollister Award for his work in helping to unite all Nations in the name of Peace.

LONGWALKER - ERNEST PETERS

I am writing to nominate Longwalker (Ernest Peters), a 77 year old Dakotah Sioux, Keeper of Medicine, who lives on 240 acres called 'Red Wind'-a soverign inter-nation...a nation within a nation. He was able to establish a sovereign nation recognized by the UN and US gov't. He played a major role in organizing and leading the 'Longest Walk" from CA to DC in the summer of 1979, receiving international attention. He now holds youth camps, working with inner city adolescents to teach them basic traditional skills. He is in the process of writing a book. He is one of the few authentic keepers of medicine alive. His elders live in the Pine Ridge area where he will go to live before too long. He was approached by Farrahkhan to be a part of his group. Longwalker told him he wouldn't be an ornament on anyone's Christmas tree. He also told him the amount of money Farrahkan was spending on dinner that night would allow him to help run his programs for 3 years. He is a warrior, man of integrity, and wisdom. Dr. Kevin Keough

DAVID SPIRIT BEAR WALTON - Former Editor/Publisher of NORUMBEGA

David Spirit Bear not only devotes himself in time, effort and money to bring to the people Norumbega, but works to help rectify the many injustices and prejudices so prevalent today against the Indian peoples. From fighting to end the usage of demeaning mascots of the people - to helping put an end to the usage of the S WORD in his homestate, David Spirit Bear gives all his heart, spirit and dedication to the cause of the native peoples, not only in the United States but in Canada, as well.

From fighting racist school sports team mascots, to standing alone at the end of a reburial of the descration of the remains of Ancestors buried nearly 200 years ago in a potato field in Canada...David Spirit Bear does not understand the meaning of "I will never give up!"

HARVEY ARDEN - Editor for Leonard Peltier - A Man of Dreams and Visions and Hope

Harvey Arden does not understand the meaning of "I will never give up!" either. He is dedicated to the freedom of Leonard Peltier. But he is also a man of integrity, of strong heart and who is involved in many issues, helping in any way that he can to further the cause of equality and justice for the native peoples.

SARA HAYES - This woman devotes countless hours to help where ever the need may be. Her heart is with the Dine' and the horrendous situation of Big Mountain. But she doesn't stop here. Need help? Sara will help - whether it be getting the word out - signing petitions, offering to help in any way that she can to benefit the native peoples. An educator, she has made it a top priority to educate children - the 7th generation to come, of the truth - the real truth of the native peoples.

DONALD SOCTAMAH - Passamaquoddy Tribal Representative to the Maine State Legislature - Mr. Soctamah has put in countless hours to represent his people in the State of Maine. A driving force to stop the usage of the S WORD in Maine in public places, a staunch supporter of the Miqmaq and their right to fish as they have done for hundreds of years, a quiet man, but one whose determination benefits not only his people, the Passamaquoddies, but benefits the State of Maine and the Nation.

DONNA LORING - Penobscot Tribal Representative to the Maine State Legislature - she too, has worked tirelessly for her people, to rid the State of Maine of the S WORD and who, like Mr. Soctamah, has spent countless hours dealing with politicians to make positive change for her people. She is working hard to improve the economy of the Penobscot Nation, despite overwhelming odds. A determined woman, despite what appears to be at times, overwhelming odds.

RUBEN BOTELLO - Ruben Botello - the Founder of Blazing Star University is a fighter - for human rights - against the injustices of homelessness and racism. He has devoted his life for justice and equality and to point out when and where these injustices occur. He manages several mailing lists and provides a wealth of information on a variety of human issues. Ruben does not see color. Ruben see INJUSTICE...and for this he fights and always will.

HARMONY - This young woman is devoted to the cause of eradicating racism and bringing about equality, respect and understanding of all people. Despite facing overwhelming odds and personal attacks from those whose desire is not to see equality and respect for all people, she works onward - accomplishing victories. She will not give up. Her strength of character and devotion to the cause is more than admirable. It's the strength and character of a young woman who does more than just talk about injustices - she acts and gets results.

STRONG BEAR RED HEART - A kind and gentle man, but a strong man. A veteran. A warrior. But a warrior for the people. He works for the cause of the people quietly, without fanfare. He epitomizes what a true warrior is really all about.

TOM POOR BEAR AND LOREN BLACK ELK - I wish to nominate for distinguished service to the Native Americans of Pine Ridge and the United States, Tom Poor Bear and Loren Black Elk of Pine Ridge, SD. These brothers began and maintain Camp Justice, a Grass Roots Effort to provoke the Federal Officials to find the murderer(s) of their brother, Wilson Black Elk, Jr., and cousin, Ron Hard Heart.... as well as solving the countless other murders on that reservation, the Killing Fields of South Dakota.

The Camp's Warriors are facing jail for crossing a line established by the Nebraska State Police during a march from Camp Justice to White Clay, Nebraska - a cess pool of liquor stores that sell their "wares" to the Indians of Pine Ridge. White Clay is Indian Land, given to the Oglala Lakota Nation by the treaty of 1868. Camp Justice fights for the return of all treatied lands as well.
