CALL FOR ENTRIES

Native American and worldwide indigenous film makers are invited to submit entries produced by or about indigenous peoples for the Heard Museum Film Festival. All genres and lengths are welcome and creative storytelling is encouraged. Categories include drama, comedy, documentary, experimental, animation and music video. Student films will be presented in a separate category. A film maker may submit up to five shorts of 10-15 minutes each and a total of four 20-minute selections. Two feature-length productions also may be submitted.

Consideration may be given for works in progress upon approval. Submissions must have been completed in the year 2002 and later. The Heard Museum reserves the right to invite quality films from earlier years with a cultural or historical significance. Early submissions are encouraged.

Selections will be made by a Juried Committee in early August 2006, and notification of selected works will be made via e-mail to only those selected the following week. Within two weeks of notification of selection, a DVD, Beta SP or quality VHS for students, is desired, to be received following notification. 35m to be negotiated for a later date. If screening in DVD, please send two quality screening DVDs with submission.

Regular Entry Fee:

$25 per entry; $15 for students age 22 and under Checks payable to the Heard Museum Film Festival

Submission Guidelines:

Each entry must include:

• Completed submission

• VHS, NTSC or DVD copy for submission purposes. A Beta SP (or quality VHS for student entries) must be submitted within two weeks of notification.

Two screening quality DVDs or VHS, NTSC copies.

• Completed and signed agreement

• Padded, non-fiber, self-addressed and stamped envelope for return of VHS or DVD if desired (Please send by insured mail with a return confirmation).

• Entry fee in U.S. funds (check or money order) payable to the Heard Museum Film Festival

• Press kit including photography (identified on reverse), film synopsis and cast/crew list and biographies
