Dorothy Summerfield Teams With Lamar Associates
Top American Indian Female FBI Special Agent Partners on Special Projects
WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lamar Associates, a
Washington, D.C.-based security consulting firm, today announced a
partnership with retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Dorothy Summerfield.
Summerfield, who retired after 22 years of service in December 2006, was
the highest-ranking American Indian woman ever within the FBI. She will act
as an advisor on Special Projects with Lamar Associates.

Summerfield graduated from Jay High School, in Jay, Oklahoma in 1973.
She received her bachelors Degree in Education from Northeastern State
University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma and her Masters Degree in
Counseling/Psychology Education in 1979. She is an enrolled member of the
Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma and a descendent of the Cherokee Nation
of Oklahoma.
She entered as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation
in 1984. After completing training at the FBI Academy, she was assigned to
the Albuquerque, San Francisco, and Oklahoma City Divisions from 1984
through 2003, where she was assigned to investigate or supervise
investigations of Crime in Indian Country, Foreign Counterintelligence,
Counterterrorism, Crimes Against Children, Organized Crime, Kidnapping, and
National Security matters.
In January 2004, Ms. Summerfield received a Special Appointment as Unit
Chief to FBI Headquarters to oversee and lead all Security Investigations
of individuals seeking FBI employment, filling nearly 6,000 critical
positions. She was the highest ranking Native American female special agent
when she retired from the Security Division on December 31, 2006.
