ASSEMBLY BILL 13
Thank you all for showing interest in Assembly Bill 13.
If approved, and signed by the Governor, Assembly Bill l3: California
Racial Mascot Act would prohibit public schools from using the term
Redskins as a school or athletic team name, mascot, or nickname. The ban
would affect elementary, middle, and high schools in the state of
California, taking affect on January 1, 2007.
Assembly Bill 13 will not take away funding from our public schools.
California public schools could continue using old team uniforms with
the Redskin name on them until they wore out if they selected a new team
name and discontinued using Redskins as a name for any school
publications or on any marquees or signs.

Once again, thank you all for your interest in AB 13.
For hundreds of years, Native communities have endured the legacy of
racial bigotry, and witness everyday the affects it continues to have on
our Native children today. Don't let this injustice continue into our
next generation of Native children. WE ARE PEOPLE, NOT MASCOTS.
Thank you for taking an active interest in this bill and the issue.
Sincerely,
ALLARM Steering Committee
